Springboard Diving School

Let's Dive Right In

What is Springboard Diving?

Springboard diving is one of the most spectacular and exciting aquatic sports. It involves an immense amount of strength, flexibility and courage.  Competitive springboard diving involves one or two divers performing spins, twists and somersaults into a pool from a series of heights.

Heights of the boards range from 1m to 3m, with platform diving going as high as 10m!  Not sure how high 10m is? Just imagine two giraffes standing on top of each other… and then diving head first from that height!

Here at East Lyme Aquatics we teach and train the sport of springboard diving through the use of both of our 1m diving boards.

Springboard Diving School Basics

In the Springboard Diving School program, divers will be taught how to perform an approach on the board, instructed on the proper takeoff position, and coached through forward and back dives in different positions.  If participants learn the forward and back dive, coaches will start to instruct participants in front somersaults and back somersaults.

What comes after Springboard Diving School?

Once participants have learned how to do a proper approach, takeoff, forward and backward dives, and somersaults.  They have the option to continue refining those skills, or join the Nutmeg Dive Team.  The Nutmeg Dive Team has competitive options and non-competitive options available to participants.  The team runs throughout the year and is paid for by the month.  There are 3 different commitment levels available for participants to choose from; Practice 2x a week, Practice 3x a week, and Practice 4x a week.
